Insights from a leading lady: Emma Matthews on Rigoletto

Well, Opening Night was wonderful… The nerves stayed under control, and I loved singing the ‘Caro nome’, everything just fitted.

My husband spoilt me with 3 dozen red roses, and came to the show with my friends Amanda and Karen, it was lovely having them there at the party afterwards.

Giorgio had a wonderful night. And his applause was warm and full of love. A huge triumph. Gianluca was fabulous. I love his energy in the role of the Duke. He just makes it so easy. This is a great family cast. We all get along so well.

I love having visits from Giorgio at interval! Such a good friend.

What a great night it was for all.

The second show was just as wonderful, my Mum and sister in law came, it’s always extra special singing for family.

Do come and see us.. It’s a great show, beautifully sung and portrayed by all. The Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra have never sounded so good, the Gents Chorus are wonderful. All are amazing.
